It'll be a change I thought.
And fair enough, to my surprise it took no time at all to model the 'brilliant cut' classic round diamond shape.
But how the flying-flaming-flobbering-arsing-tossing-winkering-showering-blinderfunking-rectopracting-enomosorbing-pissering-factorising-embevelling-titanising-exopowerdanising-singlinising-tabberwacky hell are you supposed to render a diamond? A single diamond. On it's own. There is no setup that seems to work well.
I'd like to knock out a couple of jewellery designs but if I cant render a simple diamond I'm not going to take on my own ring/necklace/bracelet/whatever.
In other news, the main improvement in Maxwell 2 seems to be the reduction of noise sooner. Congrats Next Limit, and thank you for all the additional features and improvements as well (namely the better colour behaviour and the colour+intensity multilight). And another thank-you to JDHill for his work on the Maxwell for Cinema plug-in. The v2 plug-in is miles better than v1.7. With all this in mind I think it's safe to say I'll be using Maxwell for most if not all of my future final renders.
